01How much does custom software development cost?
Custom software from RABZI starts at €12,500 excl. VAT (Launch: an internal tool for one process). Growth from €24,500 is a process suite with integrations to your accounting or ERP. Flagship from €49,500 is a platform spanning several departments, roles and integrations. Every phase has a fixed price. For comparison: the average first custom build in the Netherlands costs €40,000 to €80,000.
02How long does it take to build custom software?
A first working version is on a staging environment with your data in 6 to 8 weeks. A process suite with integrations and migration takes 10 to 14 weeks, a platform 16 weeks or more, in phases. We work in 2-week sprints and every sprint delivers something you can use. Your team watches the software grow and steers before anything is set in stone.
03Custom software or an off-the-shelf package?
An off-the-shelf package wins when your process is standard and you are willing to adapt to it. Custom wins when your process is your edge, when packages force workarounds, or when per-user license costs keep climbing. Often the best route is a combination: a standard package for accounting, custom software for the process that makes you money. We advise honestly, even when the answer is a package.
04Can you replace Excel with software?
Yes, it is one of our most requested projects. The spreadsheet the company runs on becomes a web application with per-user permissions, history, validation, integrations and reporting. We first analyze which formulas and tabs are actually used, migrate the data and run in parallel for a period. The result is usually live in 6 to 8 weeks, and the file called "final_v3_really" disappears.
05Who owns the software, and what if RABZI stops?
You own the source code, the database and the environments. Everything lives in your repository and your cloud account. We document architecture and decisions and use open, widely used technology (Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL), so any senior developer can take over. No licenses, no dependency on RABZI. Continuity is a design requirement for us, not a promise.
06Does custom software qualify for the WBSO R&D credit?
Often, yes. The Dutch WBSO scheme covers part of the wage costs and expenses for technically new software, including software developed with an external studio, as long as you are the applicant and carry the risk. We supply the technical substantiation: the technical problem, the approach and the hours. You file the application yourself or through your advisor; we help with timing.
